GOLDEN SUNS FINISH 13TH OUT OF 41 TEAMS AT 21ST-ANNUAL
MISSOURI SOUTHERN STAMPEDE
JOPLIN, Missouri –
Arkansas Tech Women’s Cross Country continued its season
here Saturday by finishing 13th out of 41 teams at the
21st-Annual Missouri Southern Stampede held at the MSUU
Cross Country Course.
Tech, who is ranked third in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA
D-II South Region Poll, scored 446 points to finish nine
points in front of 14th place Drury (455 points) and 17
points behind 12th place Oklahoma Baptist (429 points).
Tech was 11th among the non-NCAA Division I teams at
Saturday’s meet.
University of Arkansas (23 points) as the Lady
Razorbacks had its top five runners finish in the Top 10
of the 5,000-meter race to take home the team title.
Missouri Southern, the host school, finished second as
they scored 45 points and Dallas Baptist scored 136
points to finish in third place.
Bailee Miller
(Dover, Ark.), the two-time Gulf South Conference
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, continued her
impressive freshman campaign for the Golden Suns as she
ran a time of 18:08 to finish in 16th place overall. The
18:08 time is the fourth fastest 5,000-meter time in
school history and Miller’s fastest time of the season.
Arkansas’ Miranda Walker ran the course in a time of
17:23 to take home first place honors. Walker’s
teammate, Alyssa Allison, ran a time of 17:30 to finish
in second place and Missouri Southern’s Kimi Shank ran
the course in a time of 17:36 to finish in third place.
In addition to Miller, senior Melissa Pollreis
(Gravette, Ark.) ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of
19:00 to finish 51st overall, while junior Lauren
Karnitz (DeSoto, Kan.) ran a season-best 5K time of
20:01 to finish in 104th place overall and junior
Michelle Pollreis (Gravette, Ark.) was the fourth
Tech finisher as she ran a time of 20:31 to finish in
148th place. Sophomore Jenna Siebenmorgen (Fort
Smith, Ark.) ran a season-best time of 20:56 to finish
in 183rd place overall and junior Stormi Richardson
(Lumberton, Texas) ran a time of 21:13 to finish in
213th place.
Tech will now take two weeks off before returning to
action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Searcy,
Ark., to compete in the Harding Bison Stampede.
