AMANDA GRAPPE NAMED TO NCAA DIVISION II SOUTH REGIONAL
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
CLEVELAND,
Mississippi –
Arkansas Tech’s Amanda Grappe was named to the
five-player NCAA Division II South Regional
All-Tournament on Monday following conclusion of the
South Regional Championship game, which No. 1 ranked and
top-seeded Delta State won 62-44 over 17th-ranked
Valdosta State.
Grappe, a junior forward from Benton, Ark., averaged
21.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in her two NCAA
D-II South Regional games, including scoring 31 points
in Tech’s 82-61 quarterfinal win last Friday over
Tuskegee. Grappe ended the season with 11 points in her
team’s 58-53 loss in Saturday’s regional semifinal to
Valdosta State.
“Amanda had an outstanding postseason and had a terrific
year for our basketball team,” Golden Suns Head Coach
Dave Wilbers said. “She deserves all of the honors
she’s already won this season.”
In five postseason games, Grappe averaged 23.6
points and 9.2 rebounds per game and shot 52 percent
from the floor and 88 percent at the free throw line. In
addition to her NCAA South Region All-Tournament
selection, Grappe was named a First-Team All-GSC West
Division selection, a GSC All-Tournament Team honoree, a
Daktronics First-Team All-South Region selection and one
of five finalists from Region 5 for WBCA State Farm
Division II All-America Team honors.
Grappe was joined on the NCAA South Region
All-Tournament Team by Nova Southeastern forward
Stephanie Sarosi, West Georgia guard Dominic Cranford,
Valdosta State forward Nina Risto and Delta State guard
Jennifer Rushing, who was named the South Region’s Most
Valuable Player after leading the Lady Statesmen to its
12th NCAA Regional title.
