TECH TO HOST WATCH PARTY SUNDAY FOR  ANNOUNCEMENT OF PAIRINGS FOR THE NCAA D-II BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

        RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas Arkansas Tech University Athletic Department announced on Friday that the school will host a watch party on Sunday evening for the announcement of the pairings for the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The Golden Suns, are ranked third in the latest NCAA D-II South Region rankings and are playing Arkansas-Monticello in the semifinals Saturday of the Gulf South Conference Tournament, encourage everyone in the Tech community to come out and watch the pairings show.

“We want to encourage everyone to come on out and watch the NCAA Division II pairings being announced on Sunday and see who and where the Golden Suns will play in next weekend’s NCAA Tournament,” Tech Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Steve Mullins said. “This is an exciting time for our women’s basketball program and for our players and fans.”   

The watch party will begin at 9 p.m. and will be held at Doc’s Place in the Doc Bryan Student Union Building on the Tech campus. The NCAA D-II pairings for both the men and the women will be announced beginning at 9:30 p.m. via broadband on www.NCAAsports.com/DII.

Tech, who opened the GSC Tournament on Thursday with a 76-69 win over West Alabama, is sporting a 24-4 overall record on the season. The 24 wins is Tech’s 27th all-time 20-win season and the squad’s second consecutive 20-win campaign.

The NCAA D-II Basketball Tournament will begin next Friday at eight regional sites around the country.

Other GSC teams expected to receive bids to the NCAA Regional Tournament are Delta State, who won the West Division and is ranked No. 1, not only in the latest South Region rankings, but also in the USA Today/ESPN D-II Coaches’ Poll, along with West Georgia, who is ranked 11th in the latest USA Today/ESPN WBCA D-II Coaches’ Poll and second in the latest South Region rankings and Valdosta State, who is ranked 14th in this week’s USA Today/ESPN WBCA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll and sixth in the latest South Region poll.
