WONDER BOYS BASKETBALL TO HOLD AN OPEN GYM WORKOUT ON SEPTEMBER 8 AT TUCKER COLISEUM

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech Basketball Coach Mark Downey, who enters his fourth season at the helm of the Wonder Boys program in 2009-10, has announced that he and his coaching staff will be holding an open workout for any Tech student interested in playing basketball this upcoming season for the Wonder Boys.

The tryout is set for Tuesday, Sept. 8, beginning at 8 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum. All participants are expected to be ready to play at that time. Also, Downey encourages who comes to the tryout to participate they dress in the proper attire, including basketball shoes.

Downey, who has compiled 47-41 coaching record at Tech, is looking to continue the momentum following last season's 23-9 squad, which captured the school's first-ever Gulf South Conference Men's Basketball title and made its first-ever NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, where the Wonder Boys lost in the regional semifinals in overtime to the host team, Florida Southern.
