BASEBALL TO HOLD AN OPEN TRYOUT ON SEPTEMBER 1
RUSSELLVILLE,
Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Baseball Coach Dave Dawson,
who is in his first season at the helm of the Wonder
Boys program, has announced that there will be a tryout
for anyone interested in playing baseball this upcoming
season for the Wonder Boys.
The tryout is set for Tuesday, Sept. 1, beginning at 3
p.m. at Tech Field. All participants must have proof of
having a physical within the last six months and a copy
of the front and back of their primary medical insurance
cards.
Dawson comes to Tech after spending the past four
seasons (2006-09) as the head baseball coach at Kansas
Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan. In his four seasons
at KWU, Dawson led the Coyotes to back-to-back regular
season KCAC titles in 2008 and 2009 and compiled a
115-94 record; including winning a school-record 40
games in 2009. In addition, he led KWU to two KCAC
Baseball Tournament titles in 2007 and 2009 and helped
the school advance to the championship round of the 2009
NAIA World Series Opening Round and achieve the school's
first-ever national ranking in the NAIA Top 25 Baseball
Poll.
Joining Dawson’s coaching staff this season is
first-year assistant coach Jarrod Titus. Titus
comes to Tech after spending the past 14 seasons as the
head baseball coach at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan.
During his tenure with the Braves, Titus, who was
Dawson’s coach during his playing career at Ottawa, led
OU to six KCAC Conference titles, earned KCAC Coach of
the Year honors six times and was selected as the Region
