RAIN FORCES CANCELLATION OF THE REMAINDER OF TECH'S
WEEKEND HOME SERIES WITH NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE
RUSSELLVILLE,
Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Baseball Head Coach Billy Goss has
announced that Sunday’s doubleheader with Northwest
Missouri State at Tech Field has been cancelled due to
wet field conditions after Saturday’s rainfall that hit
the River Valley area. Goss said the series will not be
made up.
The plan originally was to complete the
Northwest Missouri State series with a single, nine
inning game on Monday had rained cancelled Sunday’s
doubleheader, but Saturday’s rain has forced Tech to
cancel the remainder of the series.
“It is way too wet out there for us to play
today and the chance for the field to dry before
tomorrow is unlikely, so we have decided to cancel the
remainder of this weekend’s series and will not make any
of these games up,” the Tech coach said.
The Wonder Boys, who are 6-3 on the season,
opened their weekend series with the Bearcats by
sweeping a doubleheader on Friday, 6-5 in the first game
and 10-0 in the nightcap.
Tech will return to action on
Tuesday, Feb.
19, when they host GSC West Division rival,
Arkansas-Monticello, in a doubleheader beginning at 2
p.m. at Tech Field. Following Tuesday’s doubleheader,
the Wonder Boys will hit the road for the first time
this season as they will play at three-game series at
fifth-ranked West Alabama beginning on Saturday, Feb. 23
with doubleheader at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday,
Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.
