RAIN WASHES OUT SUNDAY'S HOME SERIES FINALE AGAINST
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
RUSSELLVILLE,
Arkansas –
Due to an overnight rainstorm that hit the Arkansas
River Valley area, the Arkansas Tech Baseball team has
been forced to cancel its Gulf South Conference home
game that was scheduled for 1 p.m. at Tech Field on
Sunday with Christian Brothers.
Sunday’s game was supposed to be the finale of
a three-game weekend series between the two teams as the
Buccaneers opened the series by sweeping a doubleheader
from the Wonder Boys on Saturday. CBU opened the series
by posting a 9-8 win in the first game and then took the
nightcap, 10-4.
“All the rain we had overnight and the
continued calls for rain throughout the day on Sunday
have forced us to cancel Sunday’s series finale with
Christian Brothers,” Wonder Boys Baseball Coach Billy
Goss said. “Due to conference rules, the game cannot
be made up.”
It is the sixth time this season and the
fourth time this month that Tech has had to cancel a
home game due to weather.
With Sunday’s cancellation, the Wonder Boys,
who are now 17-13 overall and 6-2 in the GSC, will now
return to action on Tuesday, April 1 when they welcome
Lyon College to Tech Field for a single, nine inning
contest beginning at 6 p.m. Lyon College earned a 15-9
win earlier this season in Russellville over the Wonder
Boys.
Following Tuesday’s game, the Wonder Boys will
return to GSC action when they host fourth-ranked
Southern Arkansas in a three-game weekend series at Tech
Field. The series will open with a doubleheader on
Saturday, April 5 beginning at 2 p.m. and will close the
series with a single game on Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
