TECH BASEBALL ANNOUNCES THE SIGNING OF FIVE NEW PLAYERS
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –
Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys head baseball coach Billy
Goss has announced the addition of five new players,
including two junior college transfers that have signed
to play for Tech next spring.
Michael Alonso, a pitcher/infielder,
who played his high school ball at Little Rock Catholic
will look to add depth to a Tech pitching which
graduated five pitchers from the 2008 season.
Cameron Hood is from Jacksonville, Ark.
and played his high school baseball at Jacksonville High
School. He will expected to contribute as either an
outfielder or an infielder
Seth White is the last of the high
school players that has signed to play for the Wonder
Boys next spring. White, and outfielder, signed during
the early signing period and he hails from Rogers, Ark.
where he attends Rogers High School.
Tech will look to Pima Junior College for help
on the pitching staff as they have signed Karyle
Whitley who is originally from Tucson, Ariz. This
season at Pima JC, Whitley was 8-2 with a 2.98 ERA while
striking out 62 hitters in 75 innings of work.
Tech also has signed Chad Wynn, an
outfielder, out of Three Rivers Junior College. Wynn is
originally from Bono, Ark. This season at Three Rivers,
Bono hit .416 with nine doubles, two triples and 21
RBIs. Wynn also was a menace on the bases stealing 14 on
15 attempts.
These five will look to improve a Tech team
that finished 22-23 overall and 9-11 in Gulf South
Conference play.
