TECH BASEBALL SWEPT BY NO. 1 SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys baseball team dropped the
final game of a three-game series with Southern Arkansas
by the score of 5-3 Sunday afternoon at Tech Field.
SAU starting pitcher Hayden Simpson went the
distance for the Muleriders, improving his record to
7-0, as he allowed 10 Wonder Boy hits, three runs, three
walks while striking out 10.
Brad Green (Cabot, Ark.) was given the
tough task of keeping the Mulerider bats in check and he
pitched five innings allowing nine hits and just four
earned runs before giving way to Craig Cameron
(Knoxville, Iowa) who pitched the final four innings.
Cameron was brilliant as he allowed just two SAU hits
while striking out two.
Green provided most of the Wonder Boys offense
at the plate. He finished the game 2 for 4, including
his first homerun of the season, and another RBI single
which drove in Jantzen Black (Greenwood, Ark.).
Josh Holloway was credited with the other Tech
RBI when he hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the
ninth inning. Black and Tyler Tate (Ft. Smith,
Ark.) each had two hits apiece in the contest.
The Muleriders were led offensively by left
fielder Zane Williams who was 3 for 5 with a pair of
runs. Leadoff hitter Pat Robey had two hits and an RBI,
right fielder David Aubrey was 2 for 3 with a run scored
and designated hitter John Long picked up an RBI in the
contest.

Tuesday’s game will also be the site of the National
Student-Athlete Day Cookout which is also set to begin
