SARAH PRATT NAMED TECH'S FEMALE STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has named Golden Suns rightfielder Sarah Pratt (Garland, Texas) as this week's Female Student-Athlete of the Week.

Pratt, who is a junior, earns the honor after helping lead the Golden Suns to a program-best 24-6 start to the season and also a program-best 9-1 start in Gulf South Conference play. In 10 GSC games, Pratt is hitting .472 with 17 hits and a team-best 11 runs scored. In addition, she has one double, is 7-for-7 in stolen bases and has a slugging percentage of .500 and an on-base percentage of .500. This past week against Ouachita Baptist, Pratt went 4-for-13 (.308) at the plate with one run scored and was 1-for-1 on stolen bases as the Golden Suns took three of four games from the Lady Tigers.

         On the season, Pratt, who was named a Preseason All-GSC West Division selection and last week's GSC West Division Player of the Week, is hitting .380 with a team-best 28 hits and 23 runs scored. In addition, she had four doubles, two triples, six RBIs and is 13-for-14 in stolen bases. 

The following is a question and answer segment to help get to know this successful Tech student-athlete:

Why did you ultimately choose to come to Tech?
Sarah Pratt: To play softball again and I really liked the coaches and players.

Outside of athletics, what is your favorite thing about college life?
SP: I love hanging out and having fun with my friends.

What is your favorite type of music/group?
SP: I listen to a little of everything - country, rock & roll, rap and R & B.

What do you consider to be your hobby?
SP: I love to sleep!!

What sport other than softball do you like to watch or would you like to play the most?
SP: Basketball and volleyball.

Who is one person that has had the biggest impact on your life?
SP: I would have to say my brother, Clayton.

What is your most memorable moment as a Tech athlete?
SP: Beating Delta State earlier this season.

What would you do on your dream vacation?
SP: I would go somewhere with a beach and warm clear water and just lay-out.

What is your major at Tech?
SP: Health & Physical Education

What do you plan to do after graduation?
SP: Go back to Texas and hopefully teach and coach.

Do you have a pet?
SP: Yes, I have a pet, Zoe, a teacup yorkie. She is the cutest thing ever.

What's been the most rewarding class you have had while being at Tech?
SP: Coaching theory with Ms. Bowles. I really enjoy that class.

What are your goals for this season?
SP: Win the GSC West Division title and just win, win and win!!
