MOLLY SCHWEIGERT NAMED TECH'S FEMALE STUDENT-ATHLETE
OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has named Golden Suns shortstop Molly Schweigert (Salem, Ore.) as this week's Female Student-Athlete of the Week.

Schweigert, who is a senior and the team's only four-year letterwinner, earns the honor after helping lead the Golden Suns to a 30-9 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the GSC after picking up two consecutive doubleheader sweeps over Christian Brothers. For the week, Schweigert hit .467 and had seven hits in 15 at-bats and had a slugging percentage of .533 and an on-base percentage of .500. In addition, she extended her school-record hitting streak to 12 consecutive games. On the season, Schweigert is hitting .362 with 38 hits in a 105 at-bats. In addition, she has scored 17 runs, had four doubles, a team-leading three triples and has driven in 14 runs in 37 games. In her four-year Tech career, Schweigert holds school records for career at-bats (497), hits (159), doubles (31) and triples (12).

Why did you ultimately choose to come to Tech?
Molly Schweigert: The amount of scholarship money I received.

Outside of athletics, what is your favorite thing about college life?
MS: Meeting new people and making lifelong friends.

What is your favorite type of music/group?
MS: I'm a huge alternative fan.

What do you consider your hobby?
MS: Disc golf. It helps my swing.

What sport other than softball do you like to watch or would you like to play the most?
MS: Baseball. I always thought pitching would be fun.

Who is one person that has had the biggest impact on your life?
MS: Scott McCormick (long time coach). He has been there for me and made me the player I am today.

What is your most memorable moment as a Tech athlete?
MS: Leading off the game at Delta State my freshman season with a home run.

What would you do on your dream vacation?
MS: I would like to go to my own private island with a few good friends and my cats.

What is your major at Tech?
AC: Psychology, with a minor in biology.

What do you plan to do after graduation?
MS: Go on to graduate school (Yeah, more school!)

Do you have a pet?
MS: I have a cat named Hazel.

What's been the most rewarding class you have had while being at Tech?
MS: Communities. I thought I'd never make it through that class.

What are your goals for this season?
MS: To win the conference and winning the GSC Tournament would be nice too.
