TECH NAMES JANTZEN BLACK MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has named Wonder Boy second baseman Jantzen Black (Hackett, Ark.) this week's Male Athlete of the Week. Black is coming off of a week where he was 10 for 16 at the dish with five runs scored and an RBI. Black also successfully stole three bases in three attempts. Black also tied a school and Gulf South Conference record for having 11 hits in 11 consecutive at bats. The record was set just a week earlier by last week's Male Athlete of the Week, Tony Sanchez (Mesquite, Texas).

The following is a question and answer segment to help get to know this successful Tech student-athlete:

Why did you ultimately choose to come to Tech?
JB: I came here because it was a good place to go get an education and continue playing baseball.

Outside of athletics, what is your favorite thing about college life?
JB: Hanging out with my friends.

What is your favorite type of music/group?
JB: Third Eye Blind, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, Lucero

What do you consider your hobby?
JB: Golfing

What sport other than baseball do you like to watch or would you like to play the most?
JB: I like watching football and playing basketball.

Who is one person that has had the biggest impact on your life?
JB: My dad.

What is your most memorable moment as a Tech athlete?
JB: Hitting a walk-off homerun against Henderson.

What would you do on your dream vacation?
JB: Ski the Swiss Alps.

What is your major at Tech?
JB: History Education

What do you plan to do after graduation?
JB: I'd like to be a high school teacher/coach.

Do you have a pet?
JB: No.

How many times a day do you find yourself checking facebook?
JB: About once a week.

What's the most rewarding class you have had while being at Tech?
JB: Regional Geography with Professor Canerday

What are your goals for this season?
JB: To win a conference championship.
