TECH NAMES CASEY HAMMONS AS ITS FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has named Golden Suns pitcher Casey Hammons (Carthage, Texas) as this week's Female Athlete of the Week. Hammons is coming off of a week where she has been named Gulf South Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week after posting a 3-0 record, a save and a 0.92 ERA. She allowed only two earned runs last week while striking out 21 and only walking four.

The following is a question and answer segment to help get to know this successful Tech student-athlete:

Why did you ultimately choose to come to Tech?
Casey Hammons:
I chose Tech because the campus is really pretty and I loved how friendly the people here are.

Outside of athletics, what is your favorite thing about college life?
CH: Being on my own.

What is your favorite type of music/group?
CH: Country & Rap

What sport other than softball do you like to watch or would you like to play the most?
CH: Volleyball and I love to watch football. The Dallas Cowboys are my favorite team.

Who is one person that has had the biggest impact on your life?
CH: My dad.

What is your most memorable moment as a Tech athlete?
CH: Last year when I pitched my first full game against Southwest Baptist and had 10 strikeouts. I also hit a homerun in that game.

What would you do on your dream vacation?
CH: I would go on a cruise to Cancun.

What is your major at Tech?
CH: Wellness Science

What do you plan to do after graduation?
CH: I plan to build my own fitness center.

Do you have a pet?
CH: No.

What's been the most rewarding class you have had while being at Tech?
CH: Nutrition

What are your goals for this season?
CH: To have a winning season.
