TECH NAMES GOLFER BJ HAWKINS THIS WEEK'S
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has named BJ Hawkins (Winnsboro, Texas) of the Tech golf team this week's male athlete of the week.

In 14 rounds of golf this year, Hawkins has an average round of 75.6. He's coming off a third place finish at the Natural State Classic when he shot an opening round 67 and followed it with a 73 for a total of 140. Hawkins also had a fifth place finish in the University of North Alabama Spring Classic with a five over par 149.

The following is a question and answer segment to help get to know this successful Tech student-athlete:

Why did you ultimately choose to come to Tech?
BJ Hawkins: I came to Tech to play golf. 

Outside of athletics, what is your favorite thing about college life?
BH: I just like hanging out with my friends and playing intramural sports.

What is your favorite type of music/group?
BH: Rock/Rap and Linkin Park.

What do you consider your hobby?
BH: Playing poker.

What sport other than golf do you like to watch or would you like to play the most?
BH: Tennis

Who is one person that has had the biggest impact on your life?
BH: My parents.

What is your most memorable moment as a Tech athlete?
BH: Winning my first golf tournament as a college player.

What would you do on your dream vacation?
BH: Play a round of golf at Augusta.

What is your major at Tech?
BH: Physical Education

What do you plan to do after graduation?
BH: I plan on pursuing a career in coaching.

Do you have a pet?
BH:
Yes, a Chihuahua named Romeo.

How many times a day do you find yourself checking facebook?
BH:
Two or three times a day.

What's the most rewarding class you have had while being at Tech?
BH:
Anatomy

What are your goals for this season?
BH:
My goal is for our golf team to make it to the Regional Golf Tournament.
